From the reviews
Dr. Owens performed my rhinoplasty and septoplasty. This was my third surgery. I had holes in my septum that were repaired, pieces of my rib cartilage and scalp fascia were used in my new nose. I could not ask for a better outcome for a third surgery. Thank you for everything.
Dr. Owen performed three surgeries on my face. I got hit by a golf ball which broke my eye socket and cheekbone. While my initial surgery was done in Des Moines, I had some more complex specialty work done by Dr. Owen to work toward more improvements. No one would ever know that I had severely damaged my face.
Best surgeon ever!! I would highly recommend Dr. Owen to anyone and everyone. I had a few prior surgeries to my nose that resulted in multiple problems including breathing issues, a falling nasal tip, and thin septum. He did revision surgery on me and I had the best experience.
Dr. Owen is a fabulous surgeon and wonderful human. He will spend the time to explain the plan to his patients in a way they can understand and that often includes drawings on a white board to better illustrate what he is saying. And his skill in the OR is top notch! We are lucky to have him in Iowa City!
Researching a tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is major surgery with real risks and a recovery that usually runs several weeks — this page is a starting point for finding a surgeon, not medical advice. The most useful next step is a consultation, where a surgeon reviews your health history, examines you, talks through your options, and gives a personal quote. Bring questions and don't rush the decision.
Questions worth asking: Are you board-certified in plastic surgery (and can I verify it)? Where would you operate, and is the facility accredited? Can I see before-and-after photos of your own patients? What are the risks and the realistic recovery timeline for me? What's your revision policy if something needs adjusting? Whatever a listing says, always verify certification directly with the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) at abplasticsurgery.org, and discuss your candidacy, risks, and recovery with the surgeon.
